Rickie Lambert has received praise from his teammate Morgan Schneiderlin for the goalscoring contribution that he has made since he joined Southampton in 2009.
The 31-year-old surpassed the 100-goal barrier for the Saints during Sunday's 4-2 defeat to Newcastle United.
With that in mind, Schneiderlin believes that Lambert should be considered as one of the best English strikers at this moment in time.
"You have maybe Wayne Rooney who is on top of everyone, but after that Rickie is up there," the French midfielder told the Daily Echo.
"I don't really have to say anything. His stats and his performances speak for themselves.
"He's an amazing player. He proved in every league he went that he can score goals, and he will score goals."
Lambert has found the net 12 times in the Premier League this season.
