Southampton will reportedly sack manager Mauricio Pellegrino regardless of whether he guides the club to Premier League safety.

Southampton have reportedly decided that manager Mauricio Pellegrino will be sacked even if he secures Premier League safety for the club.

The Argentine has not yet had a full year in charge of the coastal outfit following his appointment as Claude Puel's successor last summer.

The Saints have picked up just five wins in 29 top-flight matches, which has left them 17th in the league table, one point above the dropzone.

According to The Mirror, the board are already putting together a list of possible replacements, with Fulham's Slavisa Jokanovic and Ostersunds FK boss Graham Potter making the cut.

Next up for Southampton is a trip to St James' Park to take on Newcastle United this Saturday.
