Southampton confirm that midfielder Jordy Clasie has been allowed to return to Feyenoord on a season-long loan deal.

Southampton have announced that midfielder Jordy Clasie has signed a season-long loan deal with Feyenoord.

Clasie initially left Feyenoord to make the switch to St Mary's in 2015, with 49 appearances being made during his first two years at the Premier League club.

However, the Netherlands international spent the last campaign at Belgian side Club Brugge, and Saints boss Mark Hughes has opted against bringing the 27-year-old back into his first-team squad.

Clasie will instead return to the Eredivisie with former club Feyenoord, a club that Clasie represented on 139 occasions between 2011 and 2015.

Feyenoord only finished in fourth place in the top-flight standings last season.
