Emmanuel Adebayor insists that he will become the first-choice striker for Tottenham Hotspur this season, despite the competition for places at the club.

Emmanuel Adebayor has claimed that he will become the first-choice striker at Tottenham Hotspur, despite the competition for places.

The Premier League club bolstered their attacking options over the summer with the arrivals of Roberto Soldado and record signing Erik Lamela.

"Today I will not tell you that I'm stronger than Soldado or [Jermain] Defoe or Lamela," The Metro quotes him as saying.

"We now have four [players] in the attack. I do not know who ranks first, second or third but I know at the end I will be the first and it is the most important."

Adebayor, who scored eight goals last season, is yet to feature for Spurs during the current campaign.
