Former Tottenham Hotspur coach Clive Allen believes that Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti could be installed as the new manager at White Hart Lane.
The North London outfit are expected to call an end to Tim Sherwood's stint following his short-term appointment after Andre Villas-Boas's departure in December.
Louis van Gaal was touted as an early favourite for the role, but with widespread reports claiming that the Dutchman could move to Manchester United in the summer, Allen believes that Ancelotti should not be ruled out.
"If I was a betting man I'd have my money on Carlo Ancelotti," Allen told talkSPORT.
"There won't be just the one option, because if was Van Gaal was on their list, that's gone now, his move to Man United looks to be done and he's been very clever with his recent comments."
Reports have claimed that Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino is also being considered as a potential candidate.
