Report: David Moyes contender for Tottenham Hotspur job

David Moyes is reportedly being considered as Tottenham Hotspur's new manager following his axe from Manchester United.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering David Moyes as a possible candidate for the managerial position likely to be freed up by Tim Sherwood at the end of the season.

Sherwood is expected to leave White Hart Lane in the summer after taking charge of the first team following Andre Villas-Boas's sacking in December.

While Louis van Gaal is believed to be admired by Spurs, the Dutchman has emerged as the favourite to take the hotseat at Old Trafford following Moyes's dismissal on Tuesday.

According to the London Evening Standard, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy would be open to appointing Moyes, but a number of members within the hiearchy are not yet convinced considering the Scotsman's failure to keep United in the top four.

Moyes, who was sacked less than 10 months after being appointed as Sir Alex Ferguson's successor, oversaw the club fall to 15 defeats in all competitions and fail to qualify for next season's Champions League tournament.

Reports have claimed that Spurs' plans to build a new stadium will be taken into account when appointing a new manager, and could be more likely to pick a coach out of work in order to avoid compensation fees.
