Ben Davies desperate to become key player for Tottenham Hotspur

Ben Davies insists that he can edge out Danny Rose to become Tottenham Hotspur's first-choice left-back.

Ben Davies has insisted that he can become Tottenham Hotspur's first-choice left-back following his summer move from Swansea City.

The 21-year-old has been used sparingly in the Premier League due to Mauricio Pochettino's eagerness to keep faith with Danny Rose, but he is certain that he can hold down a regular spot in the side if given the opportunity.

"Training with the players at Tottenham every day is definitely helping me, and when I get the chance to show that on the pitch then I will," Davies told reporters.

"It is a difficult situation. Of course you want to play as many games as you can, but I am constantly working as hard as I can to make that left-back spot my own, and hopefully that time is not too far away.

"Do I believe I will do it? Of course I do. If you don't believe in your own ability there is not too much point in playing the game."

Davies is currently on international duty with Wales ahead of Friday's Euro 2016 qualifier with Bosnia-Herzegovina.
