Jermain Defoe claims that the current Spurs squad is the best that he has been involved with.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe has claimed that the club's current crop of players is the best squad that he has been involved with.

Harry Redknapp's side, who are third in the Premier League table, have won nine of their last 10 games.

The 29-year-old's endorsement would appear to have calmed suggestions that he is on his way out of White Hart Lane.

"I think this is the best group of players I've been involved with," said Defoe. "The squad is unbelievable.

"We've got two great teams in effect we can put out to be honest and it is a great time to be at the club.

"I just think the sky's the limit for Tottenham really."

Defoe was on target for Spurs in Saturday's 3-1 win at West Bromwich Albion.
