Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane sets out to reach another Premier League milestone when the Lilywhites host Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane could earn another slice of Premier League history when the North London giants host Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon.

As speculation surrounding his future continues to rumble on in the background, Kane continues to shine in lily-white and scored his 22nd Premier League goal of the season away to Everton on Monday night.

The 29-year-old - who is now the top goalscorer for club and country - has netted a total of 205 Premier League goals, 107 of which have come away from home.

Kane appropriately became the first-ever Premier League player to net a century of away goals in October's win over Brighton at the Amex Stadium, and the England captain can boast a total of 98 in front of his own supporters at White Hart Lane, Wembley and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Should the Tottenham marksman find the back of the net at least twice on Saturday, he will become the first Premier League player to score 100 goals both home and away in another milestone achievement.

The likes of Alan Shearer, Wayne Rooney, Thierry Henry, Robbie Fowler, Sergio Aguero and Andy Cole previously managed to score 100 Premier League goals on home soil, and another two for Kane on Saturday would take him ever closer to surpassing Rooney in the overall charts.

The Tottenham man needs three more efforts to draw level with Rooney on 208 strikes, although Shearer's record of 260 is still some way away for the England skipper.

Kane's 205th Premier League goal came from the penalty spot at Goodison Park on Monday, although he was at the centre of controversy before converting from 12 yards due to an incident with Abdoulaye Doucoure.

The 29-year-old went down clutching his face after being caught by Doucoure's hand, giving David Coote no choice but to send the Everton man off, although pundits such as Jamie Carragher and Chris Sutton criticised the manner in which Kane fell to the turf.

The comments were addressed by Cristian Stellini in his pre-game press conference on Thursday, and the Lilywhites' acting head coach believes that the "strange" criticism can be linked to a lack of respect for Tottenham rather than Kane specifically.

"I think it's strange that some ex-players said some things I think wrong about Harry because they're ex players and they understand the difference between seeing a situation like this in slow-motion and living this experience in real time. It's completely different," Stellini said.

"Everton's manager said it's a clear red card, so there's no discussion about this. I don't understand why some player spoke about this. I think they don't agree with Tottenham, instead of not agreeing with Harry. I think they respect Harry but probably they don't respect Tottenham enough.

"I have never seen him exaggerate something. I have seen him stand up after a strong tackle and we have a lot of examples. Also we spoke with the board of referees about some of the tackles Harry received and really bad. Also in the first half last match there was a strong tackle from a central defender but we don't discuss this and Harry doesn't discuss this.

"He's an amazing player in every aspect, also in the behaviour he has and the respect he has. He respects the game a lot. It's important to say this and everyone has to understand that they cannot challenge Harry on this aspect."

Tottenham enter the weekend's clash with Brighton sat fifth in the Premier League table - just one place and four points better off than the Seagulls - who defeated Spurs 1-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in this fixture last season.
