Mauricio Pochettino "happy" with Watford draw

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino says that he is "happy" despite seeing his side drop another two points in the Premier League.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that he is "happy" with his side despite them dropping another two points today in a 1-1 draw at Watford.

Both goals came in the first half-hour, first Christian Kabasele putting the hosts ahead before Son Heung-min managed to restore parity.

Spurs suffered a blow early in the second period when Davinson Sanchez saw a straight red, having been adjudged to impede Richarlison, but the 10 men managed to hang on for a point against the high-flying Hornets.

The result extended the side's winless league run to four matches and left them 15 points adrift of Premier League leaders Manchester City, who have a game in hand.

"We deserved more," Pochettino told BBC Sport after the final whistle. "In the second half we played more than 40 minutes with one less and the team was brave and tried to win the game. I am happy. In the last few weeks we have been frustrated but the face the team showed today was good. Sometimes you need to feel that frustration and learn.

"It is so difficult to play with one less. I think it was important miss for us but the good thing is we did not concede. We were close to scoring. We handled the game well during the second half and I was happy with the performance.

"I think it wasn't intentional for Davinson to make what he made. I am not going to talk about the refereeing decision any more. For me one of the first questions is about a controversial situation. My decision is not going to change it.

"It is important for us to change the feelings. We are in a period now that we suffered things against us. It is good for the group to try and learn. It is a long-term project. It will be good for the future. You want to win but in tough moments you learn."

Spurs now host APOEL in the Champions League on Wednesday night before welcoming Stoke City to Wembley in the league next Saturday.
