Mauricio Pochettino: "I believe in Emmanuel Adebayor"

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino defends striker Emmanuel Adebayor after his low-scoring start to the season.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that he "believes" in Emmanuel Adebayor, despite his poor start to the season.

The 30-year-old has scored just once for Spurs this campaign in the Premier League, even though he has started in all six of their matches.

However, Pochettino is adamant that the Togo international will rediscover his form again and is pleased with the level of his performances.

"I believe in Emmanuel Adebayor," Pochettino told reporters. "We know always a striker maybe during some periods finds it difficult to score, but he made a lot of effort for the team.

"The more important thing is that we are convinced that he or another teammate can arrive at the possibility to score, but I am happy with his performance.

"It is true that he knows he needs to score because a striker always lives to score, but I believe in him and have no problem."

Tottenham face Besiktas in their Europa League clash tomorrow.
