Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou reportedly agrees to become the next head coach of Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.

Ange Postecoglou has reportedly agreed to accept an offer to leave Celtic for Tottenham Hotspur.

For a number of days, Postecoglou has been reluctant to discuss the possibility of ending his two-year spell in Glasgow to move to North London.

The 57-year-old has been keen to focus on Celtic's Scottish Cup final with Inverness Caledonian Thistle, a game which they won 3-1 on Saturday evening.

In the immediate aftermath of that fixture, Postecoglou continued to dismiss questions from the media, instead wishing to enjoy the moment of completing the domestic treble.

However, since the triumph at Hampden Park, the situation appears to have progressed with it being claimed on Sunday that Postecoglou had held further discussions with the Spurs hierarchy.

Chairman Daniel Levy is eager to make an appointment as soon as possible with Spurs at risk of falling behind in the transfer market, particularly when they have no European football to offer potential targets.

Nevertheless, according to Football Insider, the Greek-Australian has formally accepted a proposal to be the full-time replacement for Antonio Conte.

The report adds that the deal should be completed later this week with Postecoglou's 12-month rolling contract at Celtic helping speed up the process.

If the switch goes through as expected, Postecoglou will leave Celtic having recorded 83 wins, 12 draws and 18 defeats from his 113 matches in charge.

Overcoming Inverness at the weekend led to his fifth piece of silverware at Celtic during that period, putting him among some of the greatest managers in the club's history.

Postecoglou is no stranger to interest from South of the border, however, with Brighton & Hove Albion among the clubs to have been linked with his services earlier in the season.

There were also times when the likes of Wolverhampton Wanderers, Leeds United and Chelsea are said to have included him on their respective shortlists.

Postecoglou would be tasked with ensuring that Spurs earn an immediate return to European football for 2024-25 after losing their continental status with an eighth-placed finish in the Premier League.
