Jamie Redknapp compares Delle Alli to Steven Gerrard

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli is like a young Steven Gerrard, according to former England international Jamie Redknapp, who played with Gerrard at Liverpool.

Former England midfielder Jamie Redknapp has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur's Dele Alli is "the closest thing" that he has seen to former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard.

Alli officially linked up with Spurs at the start of the season and his performances have helped the capital side rise into the top four in the Premier League.

The 19-year-old, who has scored four times for Spurs this term, has also earned four England caps since the start of the campaign and is being tipped to travel to Euro 2016.

Redknapp has said that he 'cannot explain how impressed' he has been with the teenager, who he has compared to former Liverpool legend Gerrard.

"I can't tell you how impressed I am with Dele Alli, as a midfield player, a young player, how exciting he is. He plays with no fear. We were lucky enough to play with Steven Gerrard and he's the closest thing I've seen to Stevie," Redknapp told Sky Sports News while sitting alongside Jamie Carragher.

Spurs have only lost twice in the league this season and currently sit fourth in the table, just four points off the summit with 19 games remaining.
