Tottenham Hotspur reportedly end their pursuit of Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers.

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly ended their pursuit of Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers, as they discovered that it would cost around £70m to lure him to White Hart Lane.

The Foxes are desperate to keep hold of the Northern Irishman who has been heavily linked with a move to Spurs since the dismissal of Jose Mourinho.

However, according to The Sun, Tottenham would need to offer Rodgers a four-year contract worth around £12.5m a year, and they would also have to pay Leicester £20m in compensation.

Rodgers is understood to have been offered the Spurs managerial vacancy back in 2012, but he instead moved to Liverpool, where he spent just over three years in charge.

As well as Rodgers, Tottenham were also interested in Ajax manager Erik ten Hag, however the Dutch giants announced on Friday that the 51-year-old had extended his contract with the club until the summer of 2023.

Spurs sacked Mourinho after just 17 months at the helm and have since appointed Ryan Mason as interim manager until the end of the season, with the club sitting seventh in the Premier League, five points off the top four.
