James Tomkins: Facing Tottenham Hotspur is "massive"

West Ham United defender James Tomkins says that facing Tottenham Hotspur this weekend is a "massive game" for the club.

James Tomkins has said that West Ham United's match against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend is a "massive game" for the club.

The Hammers have already beaten their London rivals in the Premier League season, as well as knocking them out of the Capital One Cup, but have lost their last four matches.

The defender told the club's website: "It's a big game for all of us, really. We need to win to get ourselves out of trouble and, with it being Tottenham, we know what it means to the fans and everyone. It's a massive game.

"The game in October is one I certainly won't forget. We set up well and kept them quiet in the first half, which is always important, and we got our goals. To win there 3-0 in front of the thousands of our fans who turned up on the day, and the celebrations after, were really good. It was an important win with the situation we were in, as well.

"The young lad [Harry] Kane has obviously come in and done well and [Emmanuel] Adebayor is an experienced player, so we'll have to play well to keep them quiet. Hopefully we can get a win in front of a good crowd."

The run of losses has left West Ham 14th in the table.
