Jan Veronghen says that Tottenham Hotspur can be pleased with their current position in the Premier League.

Jan Vertonghen has said that Tottenham Hotspur can be pleased with their position heading towards the end of the season.

The White Hart Lane club, who will play the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final against Basel on Thursday, are third in the Premier League table.

The Belgium international told the club's website: "We're up there in third, we're in the quarter-finals of the Europa League and we can be happy where we are, but now we have to finish it, to finish in the top four and go as far as possible in the Europa League.

"We needed to get back on a run and Swansea away isn't the easiest game, they made it tough for us but we won and we're very happy.

"We'd lost three games in a row so there was some pressure at Swansea. It was difficult after international week but the lads did well and it was an important win for us."

Vertonghen has scored seven goals for Tottenham this season.
