Andre Villas-Boas hints at Hugo Lloris wait

Andre Villas-Boas hints that Hugo Lloris may have to wait before becoming Tottenham Hotspur's first-choice goalkeeper.

New Tottenham Hotspur signing Hugo Lloris has been labelled by Andre Villas-Boas as the side's 'keeper of the future'.

The France number one made the switch from Lyon to White Hart Lane on transfer deadline day for a fee believed to be around £8m.

While many expected Lloris to be Spurs' first-choice goalkeeper, Villas-Boas has said that Brad Friedel's performance in the 1-1 draw with Norwich City may prompt him to stick with the American for a little while longer.

"When you have a 'keeper who gives so much confidence to the team and is doing so well, he deserves to be in goal," said Villas-Boas.

"He'll continue to do so. We want to build for the future and Hugo can be our 'keeper in the future."

Spurs are still in search of their first win in the Premier League this season.
