Tottenham Hotspur's Kevin Wimmer bemoans "unnecessary" defeat to West Ham United

Tottenham Hotspur defender Kevin Wimmer describes his side's defeat to West Ham United as an "unnecessary result".

Tottenham Hotspur defender Kevin Wimmer has described the team's 1-0 defeat to West Ham United as "unnecessary".

Michail Antonio's seventh-minute headed goal was enough to deny Spurs the chance to move to the top of the Premier League table.

Tottenham remain second in the standings, three points behind leaders Leicester City, but their six-game winning run in the top flight has come to an end.

"It was very disappointing," Wimmer told Spurs TV. "We were a bit better in the second [half] than the first but we didn't play well.

"It was a very unnecessary result tonight but we will turn it around on Saturday. We will give it our all to do that."

Spurs will take on North London rivals Arsenal at White Hart Lane this weekend.
