Tottenham Hotspur's Mauricio Pochettino: 'Losing to West Ham is a bad day for us'

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino says that his team had a bad day following their 1-0 defeat to West Ham United at Upton Park.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that his team had a bad day as they suffered a 1-0 defeat to West Ham United at Upton Park on Wednesday night.

The North London outfit squandered the chance to move to the top of the Premier League table as Michail Antonio's seventh-minute header ensured that all three points went West Ham's way.

Tottenham remain second in the standings, three points behind leaders Leicester City, and they will take on North London rivals Arsenal at White Hart Lane this Saturday.

"The first half was difficult to adapt to under difficult circumstances - the pitch was the first and the second was how [West Ham] play," Pochettino told Sky Sports News. "They're a strong team and it was difficult to play the way we play.

"It wasn't a good day for us, but we had control of the game in the second half. In this period for the team like us or Arsenal or Manchester City - we play a lot of games and we come from a period where we play every three days.

"It's always tough but we need to feel good and confident in our squad and make sure that we are ready to compete on Saturday."

Arsenal are three points behind Spurs in third place.
