Former Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri is reportedly the favourite to take over from Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid should the Frenchman leave.

Massimiliano Allegri is reportedly the leading candidate to replace Zinedine Zidane in the Real Madrid dugout.

Los Blancos ended the season without a trophy for the first time since the 2009-10 campaign on Saturday, with Atletico Madrid's win over Real Valladolid handing Diego Simeone's side the La Liga title.

Zidane's future was already the subject of much speculation before the final day of the season, but the Frenchman has affirmed that he will not be making any rash decisions on his next career move.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Zidane's future is in his own hands at Real Madrid, but former Juventus boss Allegri is the frontrunner to take the reins should the 48-year-old leave.

Allegri is also believed to be on the shortlist of Tottenham Hotspur and Napoli in their searches for new managers, but he has reportedly rejected the opportunity to take the hotseat in North London.

The 53-year-old has been out of the game since stepping down from his Juventus post in 2019, following five consecutive Serie A triumphs with the Turin giants.
