Everton midfielder Ross Barkley is reportedly demanding higher wages than Harry Kane in negotiations with Tottenham Hotspur.

Ross Barkley is reportedly demanding higher wages than Harry Kane currently earns at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Everton midfielder is believed to have attracted interest from the North London outfit, but his wage demands could prove a stumbling block in negotiations.

According to The Mirror, the England international wants £150,000 a week, which is significantly more than the £120,000 weekly wage that the club's top earners Kane and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris pocket.

It is believed that Tottenham have been left stunned by Barkley's demands, and the clubs are miles apart in terms of fee, with Everton wanting £50m and Spurs valuing the midfielder at around £15m as he has just one year left on his contract.

Last season, Toffees manager Ronald Koeman suggested numerous times that Barkley would be sold if he does not sign a new contract at Goodison Park.

The 23-year-old was left out of Koeman's last two squads for pre-season trips to Tanzania and Holland.
