Dembele: 'No contract talks until summer'

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele says that he will not entertain any talks over his future until after the World Cup.

Midfielder Mousa Dembele has suggested that contract talks with Tottenham Hotspur will not take place until July.

Dembele has established himself as a key part of Mauricio Pochettino's side, making 34 appearances in all competitions during the current campaign.

The Belgian international has just over a year remaining on his existing deal, but the player has said that he and the club have agreed to wait until the summer to discuss fresh terms.

The 30-year-old is quoted as saying by La Derniere Heure: "We have not really talked about an extension of my contract. At the beginning of the season, I said I had physical problems, I want to see at the end of the season how I feel. That's what the club and I decided by mutual agreement.

"If we talk about a new contract in the middle of the season, it will cost energy. Imagine how a player can feel unappreciated after a disappointing proposal. It can disrupt his game.

"At this moment, I am very happy at Tottenham. I do not lie when I say that I do not think about a big transfer. I want to play a World Cup and afterwards we will see."

Dembele has recently been linked with a move to Juventus.
