Report: Southampton want Harry Kane, Andros Townsend for Jay Rodriguez

Southampton will sanction Jay Rodriguez's move to Tottenham if Spurs send Harry Kane and Andros Townsend the other way, according to reports.

Southampton have reportedly told Tottenham Hotspur to use Harry Kane and Andros Townsend as makeweights in a prospective deal for Jay Rodriguez.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, who left St Mary's in the summer, is said to have put Rodriguez at the top of his shortlist of January signings.

However, the Saints, who have offered the 25-year-old a new five-year deal, are unwilling to negotiate unless Tottenham send Kane and Townsend the other way, according to The Mirror.

Both have found themselves as bit-part players under Pochettino thus far, with the pair starting just two Premier League games between them this season.

Kane is contracted to the White Hart Lane club until 2019, while England international Townsend is tied up until 2017.
