Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly contemplating whether to move for Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford as a potential replacement for Hugo Lloris.

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly identified Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford as a future transfer target.

Spurs have had few issues between the sticks for over a decade having signed Hugo Lloris from Lyon in 2012 for a fee in the region of €15m.

Since then, the France international has made a total of 437 appearances in all competitions and is now in his 11th season established as first choice.

However, despite having recently penned a new contract with the North Londoners, Lloris is due to turn 36 years of age before the end of the month.

In the short term, Lloris is expected to remain between the sticks, with fellow veteran Fraser Forster viewed as no more than a deputy by head coach Antonio Conte.

Nevertheless, according to Football Insider, thought is being given to a future successor to Lloris, whether that be in the summer or later.

The report claims that Pickford is one of a number of players who are currently been considered to eventually replace Lloris.

Pickford is in his sixth season at Everton, the England international making a total of 213 appearances for the Toffees since signing from Sunderland in a £30m deal.

With Pickford only 28 years of age, Everton want to retain the services of their current stopper in the short and long term, particularly the former as they bid to remain in the Premier League.

However, Pickford has just over 18 months remaining on his contract and is at the stage of his career where he may be ready for a fresh challenge.

Given Everton's struggles in the top flight, it appears unlikely that he will consider penning fresh terms before the end of 2022-23, a scenario which will only lead to further interest in his signature.

Like Lloris, Pickford has just participated at the World Cup, making five appearances as the Three Lions reached the quarter-finals before losing to Lloris's France side.

Spurs have also been credited with an interest in Borussia Monchengladbach stopper Yann Sommer, who is out of contract at the end of the season.
