Jonathan Barnett, the agent of Gareth Bale, says that Tottenham Hotspur do not possess the option to re-sign the Real Madrid forward.

Agent Jonathan Barnett has reiterated that Tottenham Hotspur do not possess the option to re-sign Gareth Bale this summer.

The 31-year-old spent the last campaign on loan at the North London outfit, contributing 16 goals from 34 appearances in all competitions.

Speculation persists that the Wales international could return to his former club next season with just one year remaining on his Real contract.

However, Barnett has acknowledged that Los Blancos are not contractually obligated to allow the forward to spend another season in the Premier League.

Speaking to the Evening Standard, Barnett said: "As I have said from the beginning, there is no option. Gareth has no agreements whatsoever. He is under contract to Real."

With Carlo Ancelotti returning to the Bernabeu, Bale may potentially see out the remainder of his contract at Real.
