Tottenham Hotspur are allegedly in a position where they will only be able to sign players on free transfers and agree swap deals during the next transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho will reportedly face restrictions during the next transfer window.

With the North London outfit off the pace in the race for a Champions League spot, it had been expected that Mourinho would be provided with funds to make a number of high-profile additions.

However, according to the Evening Standard, the financial implications of the coronavirus pandemic has altered Spurs' plans in the transfer market.

The report claims that the Premier League outfit will largely have to focus on signing players on free transfers, unless they can raise funds through sales.

Mourinho and club officials may also have to be open to negotiating straight-swap deals in a bid to stabilise the club's cash flow.

The uncertainty behind the scenes is likely to remain until it becomes clear whether the Premier League will be allowed to resume in the coming months.
