Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly hoping to secure their first summer signing by the end of June, with a striker, central midfielder and centre-back all being targeted.

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly set a deadline for their first signing of the summer transfer window.

The Lilywhites are approaching a key period in their Ange Postecoglou era, with the Australian expressing his desire for a massive squad overhaul in North London following his maiden campaign in charge.

After failing to qualify for any form of European football during a wretched 2022-23 term, Spurs finished fifth in the Premier League this season, securing a spot in a revamped Europa League.

Despite the progression, Postecoglou's troops threatened to challenge for the title crown briefly in the early stages of the term, enjoying a 10-game unbeaten spell.

The major talking point around the beginning of the campaign was Harry Kane's £100m departure to Bayern Munich, with Spurs' all-time leading goalscorer ending his long-standing association with the club.

Spurs 'set deadline' for first summer signing

According to Football Insider, Tottenham have set a deadline for their first signing of the summer window, with all eyes now focused on the next campaign.

The report claims that Spurs hope to have one of their targets put pen to paper on a deal in North London by the end of June, all things going to plan.

Spurs' transfer consultant and former managing director Fabio Paratici is pushing ahead on new players and is understood to have held "exciting talks" with Postecoglou this month.

It is believed that Tottenham are looking to massively overhaul their playing staff this summer, with the acquisition of a striker, central midfielder and centre-back high on the priority list.

There is also a desire from Postecoglou for further depth at full-back, where injuries to Destiny Udogie and Pedro Porro caused havoc this season.

Who could be Spurs' first signing?

With Spurs working to get a new player through the door before the end of the month, attention naturally turns to speculation around who the fresh recruit could be.

It is understood that the Lilywhites are keen on a move for Chelsea and England international Conor Gallagher, who is currently away in Germany with the Three Lions for Euro 2024.

Following the departure of Kane to Bavaria, Spurs have been without a genuine central-striking option, and Brentford's Ivan Toney could certainly fit that bill.

There has also been talk of Postecoglou's men targeting a move for Morgan Gibbs-White, with the Nottingham Forest star potentially being reunited with Brennan Johnson at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
