Charlie Adam "frustrated" with lack of playing time

Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam admits that he is "frustrated" by his lack of first-team football this season.

Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam has admitted that he has grown frustrated at his lack of playing time this season.

The Scottish playmaker hasn't started for the Potters since October, but he hopes that his impressive second-half performance against Hull City on Saturday has sent a strong message to manager Mark Hughes.

He told Sky Sports News: "It's difficult and frustrating when you're not playing and I'm no different from anyone else who's not playing. But hopefully after coming on at half time today and setting up the goal we can keep on winning games as we have done today.

"It's not about sending a message [to the manager]. I'm frustrated not playing. It's a disappointment but it's important when I do get an opportunity, like any lad sitting on the bench when they get an opportunity, it's important I show that I'm pushing for a place and I'm ready.

"I have prepared myself. It's been October since I last started which is a long time and hopefully performances like that will put me in contention to get more opportunities."

Adam is hoping to start Stoke's clash with Everton on Wednesday.
