Stoke striker Cameron Jerome admits that his last-minute wonder goal against Southampton was hit in anger.

Stoke City striker Cameron Jerome has revealed that his wonder goal to rescue his side a point against Southampton was kicked in anger.

Jerome struck a fine half volley in second-half stoppage to make it 3-3 between the two sides after Stoke had been losing 3-1 at half time.

However, the 26-year-old revealed that he had hit it so hard because he was angry at teammate Peter Crouch's failure to lay the ball off to him in an earlier chance.

"There was one that Pete (Crouch) could have laid off to me before. I was kind of angry with him and that's why I smashed it so hard," said Jerome.

"I knew it had a chance. I thought it was going to go straight in without the bar, but when it hit the bar I thought it was going to come out. Luckily the spin took it back in.

"But the most important thing is the point. It keeps the unbeaten run going and keeps the momentum in the camp as well."

The goal extended Stoke's unbeaten record in the league to 10 matches, as well as maintaining their unbeaten home record in the league this season.
