Brek Shea happy to be loaned

Stoke City's American midfielder Brek Shea expresses his desire to leave the club on loan.

Brek Shea has revealed that he would be prepared to leave Stoke City on a loan basis.

The American joined Stoke in January, but struggled to make an impact under then-manager Tony Pulis and made just two appearances in the Premier League as a substitute last season.

He has not fared any better with Mark Hughes at the helm this term, having just featured for 45 minutes in a Capital One Cup tie against Walsall.

As a result, the 23-year-old winger is keen to be loaned out to boost the minutes that he gets on the pitch.

"I've got to get playing, whether here or on loan somewhere. It's up to the gaffer and hopefully he tells me something soon," he told The Sentinel.

"If I'm not going to play here, I want to go out and get some games in, but I can't control that, that's up to them.

"My body feels good and my mind feels good. A few weeks ago I was struggling because I was frustrated, but I feel better now."

Derby County were said to be interested in Shea's services before manager Nigel Clough was sacked.
