Sunderland midfielder Lee Cattermole says that he will play through the pain barrier for the remainder of the season.

Sunderland midfielder Lee Cattermole has said that he is ready to play through the pain barrier for the remainder of the season.

The 24-year-old has suffered with a knee complaint in recent weeks, and was replaced in the 3-3 draw with Manchester City at the weekend.

However, Cattermole has no plans to miss the final weeks of the campaign.

"I felt my medial a little in the Everton game, but I was fine after that. Then I just felt it again in the closing stages at City. Just tweaked. It won't be a problem though. There was just a little stretch of my ligament. I went off as a precaution," he told The Gazette.

Cattermole joined Sunderland from Wigan Athletic in 2009.
