Carlos Cuellar has claimed that the Sunderland players are ignoring speculation over manager Martin O'Neill's future at the club.
The Irishman has come under fire in recent weeks as just three wins from 16 matches have left the Black Cats one point clear of the relegation zone.
"To be honest, the talk of the manager had no influence on the dressing room," Cuellar told the Sunderland Echo.
"All the time, from the manager through to the chairman, they've showed their confidence in the team."
Sunderland travel to Manchester United in the league on Saturday.
