Sunderland want to bring AZ Alkmaar striker Jozy Altidore back to the Premier League, according to reports.

Sunderland are interested in signing AZ Alkmaar striker Jozy Altidore, according to reports.

Altidore has impressed in the Netherlands during the past two seasons, scoring 51 goals in 93 appearances.

That has alerted Sunderland, and according to the Shields Gazette, manager Paolo Di Canio is interested in bringing the American to the Stadium of Light.

The Black Cats boss believes that the 23-year-old can bolster their attack alongside Steven Fletcher and Danny Graham.

If Altidore does return to the Premier League, he will be hoping to improve on his previous stay, where he only scored two goals in 30 games for Hull City.
