Swansea City midfielder Leon Britton has described the last 12 months of his career as "amazing".

The 29-year-old spent seven years with the Swans before departing to join Sheffield United in 2010.

However, the move didn't work out and he returned to the Liberty Stadium during the 2011 January transfer window and went on to play a part as the Swans were promoted to the Premier League.

"It's amazing to think that a year ago I was playing against the boys for Sheffield United," he told the club's official website. "While the boys were going for promotion I was involved in a relegation scrap.

"I can remember playing for Sheffield United on Boxing Day and we'd lost to Hull 3-2 at home, and the rumours of Swansea coming in for me started.

"To be honest, I didn't think it would come true. I thought that would be a great Christmas present, and I got it, which I was delighted with."

Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers recently paid tribute to Britton's performances this season.
