Rennes have climbed two places to fifth in the Ligue 1 table after beating Toulouse 2-0 at Stade de la Route de Lorient.

It took the hosts until the 79th minute to break the deadlock, Romain Alessandrini tapping home from close range to register his 10th league goal of the season.

Mevlut Erding then made sure of the win five minutes later, as he slammed the ball into the top left corner from a very acute angle following a whipped cross by Abdoulaye Sane.

Toulouse, who have not won in their last seven matches away from home, sit 12th in the table, eight points above the relegation zone.
