Quique Flores "very happy" despite Watford defeat

Watford boss Quique Flores insists that he is "very happy" with his players despite falling to a dramatic 2-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester City.

Watford manager Quique Flores has insisted that he is "very happy" with his side's performance, despite them falling to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester City this evening.

The Hornets looked on course for all three points at Vicarage Road courtesy of an Aleksandar Kolarov own goal, but Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero both scored in the final 10 minutes to hand the visitors a dramatic late win.

Flores was at a loss to explain how his side had not picked up anything from the match, but stressed his pride in his players for their performance.

"It's difficult to dominate Manchester City like this. Against big teams it's difficult to control the attack, the ball, to control the tempo, but we did it," he told reporters.

"We were able to control the spaces, to stop the good players, we played really well with the ball. It's very similar to the last game against Tottenham. I'm very happy. It's impossible to explain how we lose this match. I try to take the good and positives we have for this team.

"I'm so sorry, so sorry, the players were amazing, so sorry for the fans. We want to win, for us it's not enough to be in the middle of the Premier League, we have a lot of reasons to be happy, but we are sad because we want a lot more. [City] have an amazing team, they have amazing players. They have the possibility in two minutes to change the dynamic of the match."

Despite back-to-back defeats, Watford remain in the top half of the Premier League table.
