Saido Berahino shrugs off subdued celebrations

In-demand West Brom forward Saido Berahino says that too much is being read into his lack of celebrations after scoring four times against Gateshead in the FA Cup.

Saido Berahino has played down his subdued celebrations after scoring four times in West Bromwich Albion's 7-0 FA Cup win over Gateshead on Saturday.

The 21-year-old brushed off intense speculation over his future by inspiring the Baggies to a third-round rout in what was Tony Pulis's first game in charge.

However, Berahino was less animated than expected after scoring each of his goals, but the youngster says that too much is being made of his despondent demeanour.

"I was just handling business and acting professionally and that's it," he told Sky Sports News. "There's no need for me to explain myself on not celebrating goals.

"It is what it is. I was just acting professionally and I didn't celebrate and that was it. I just have to do what I do on the pitch.

"I'm a West Bromwich Albion player and I've just got to perform for them and try to get as many goals as I can and contribute to wins. It's not really difficult because I just ignore the stories and I don't really read anything into it."

Pulis later insisted that he has received no offers for the reported Tottenham Hotspur target, who has netted 13 times in all competitions this season.
