Leicester City assistant Michael Appleton favourite for West Brom job?

Leicester City assistant Michael Appleton is currently regarded as the favourite to be named as the new head coach of West Bromwich Albion.

Michael Appleton has emerged as the favourite to be named as the new head coach of West Bromwich Albion.

On Monday, the Baggies announced that they had parted ways with Alan Pardew after a period of just three wins and five draws from 21 matches in all competitions.

A number of names have been linked with the position at The Hawthorns but Leicester assistant Appleton is currently regarded as the favourite to be named as Pardew's replacement by a number of leading bookmakers.

Appleton is aiding Claude Puel at the King Power Stadium, but the 42-year-old won two matches in caretaker charge of the Foxes earlier this season and enjoyed a successful spell at Oxford United between 2014 and 2017.

Earlier in his career, Appleton worked on the backroom staff at West Brom after ending his playing days at the club in 2003.
