Pardew: 'We can build on Watford display'

West Bromwich Albion manager Alan Pardew insists that there are encouraging signs to build on from their defeat to Watford, despite suffering a sixth straight loss.

West Bromwich Albion manager Alan Pardew has insisted that there are encouraging signs for his side to build on following their 1-0 defeat at the hands of Watford on Saturday.

Troy Deeney scored the only goal of the game at Vicarage Road as the Baggies fell to a sixth consecutive defeat across all competitions, leaving them now eight points adrift of safety with only nine games of the season remaining.

The result piled more pressure on the shoulders of Pardew - who is understood to be on the verge of being sacked - but he is defiant in his belief that he can turn the situation around.

"It is a process of staying true to your profession and that is what I will do and I hope my players do the same," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"We will go to work next week to try and get ourselves a win and that is all we can do.

"In terms of building on that performance, there is something there from the game against Watford to build on."

West Brom will look to arrest their dismal run of form when they host Leicester City at The Hawthorns on Saturday.
