West Bromwich Albion boss Alan Irvine insists job is safe

West Bromwich Albion manager Alan Irvine insists that he will not be sacked if his side loses to fellow strugglers Hull City this weekend.

West Bromwich Albion head coach Alan Irvine has insisted that his job is safe for the time being.

The Baggies boss is the bookmakers' favourite to become the first managerial casualty of the Premier League season after a run of four straight defeats.

However, the Scot said that he is not expecting to be sacked, even if his team loses this weekend's six-pointer against fellow strugglers Hull City.

"I've not been told anything like. I spoke to the chairman after training," The Mirror quotes Irvine as saying. "I'm fine and the chairman was perfectly calm. We just need a result but I am okay.

"We spent 15 minutes just chatting over different things and he was great, as he has been all of the time. I'm really grateful for the support he's given me."

West Brom currently occupy 16th place in the table, while Hull are just one position below them.
