Allan McGregor heroics earn Hull City a point against West Bromwich Albion

Allan McGregor's penalty stop and a standout second-half save have been enough to earn Hull City a point against West Bromwich Albion, as the sides played out a goalless draw at the KC Stadium in the Premier League this afternoon.

Victor Anichebe looked to threaten early on for the visitors and he appeared to be pulled back by scrambling defender Michael Dawson, only for referee Michael Oliver to wave away any protests for a penalty, much to the crowd's dismay.

The striker seemed in fantastic form and he eventually won the penalty he deserved after he was tugged by Jake Livermore inside the box, but Allan McGregor pulled off a fine save to keep out the spot kick from Dorrans and keep a 100% penalties-saved record in the Premier League.

Hull failed to provide anything going forward in the opening 30 minutes as David Meyler appeared the only concerned presence in midfield, with his shot from distance blocked on its way to goal.

Going into the final stages of the first half Steve Bruce's men produced their first noteworthy chance of the game, as Ahmed Elmohamady sent in a teasing ball for striker Abel Hernandez, who headed wide of the right post as the sides went into the interval on level terms.

Hull sought to be more enterprising in the second half and the hosts had two long-range attempts early on through Sone Aluko and Hernandez, who both saw their shots fly wide of goal.

Albion keeper Scott Carson soon had his first save to make and it was one of great skill to keep out a dangerous header from Stephen Quinn, whose effort was bulleted into the ground.

A wasteful Hernandez continued to make Bruce's decision to include him look a poor one, this time as the striker dragged wide with his right from the centre of the area.

Thankfully for Hull, McGregor was on hand again just under 20 minutes from time with the keeper pulling off a sprawling save to keep out a long-range effort from Albion playmaker Gardner.

The save appeared to have spurred City on and they went in search of a winning goal through Robbie Brady, who showed great determination on the wing to cross for Hernandez, but he couldn't keep his effort down as the game ended goalless.
