Alan Irvine accepts bigger clubs could target Saido Berahino

Alan Irvine admits that West Bromwich Albion could be forced to sell Saido Berahino if he continues to impress in the Premier League.

West Bromwich Albion manager Alan Irvine has admitted that he would not stand in the way of Saido Berahino if a Champions League club came in for the forward.

Berahino has started the new season in impressive fashion for the Baggies, and Irvine is hopeful that the 21-year-old can continue his good form, even if it means other sides becoming interested in his services.

"If Saido gets to the stage where there's a load of big clubs chasing after him then he'll have done a brilliant job for us in the meantime," the Scot is quoted as saying by The Mirror.

"Then it becomes a matter of whether the club want to do business with anyone or not. There's no set rule as far as that's concerned.

"It's in everyone's best interests that he continues to play as well as he's been playing and continues to develop, and if in the end he goes somewhere else - and it's a move that is seen as taking his career to the next level - then that'd be fantastic and he'd go with our blessing."

On Thursday, Berahino was named in the England Under-21 squad for the Euro 2015 playoff against Croatia.
