David Moyes believes West Ham United still have a good chance of reaching the Europa League quarter-finals despite losing 1-0 against Sevilla in the first leg of their last-16 tie on Thursday.

David Moyes believes his West Ham United side still have a good chance of reaching the Europa League quarter-finals despite losing 1-0 away against Sevilla in the first leg of their last-16 tie on Thursday.

After a goalless first half, the deadlock was broken on the hour mark when Munir El Haddadi found himself free at the back post to fizz a brilliant half-volley past Alphonse Areola.

West Ham certainly had their fair share of chances throughout the 90 minutes and although they failed to find the net in Spain, Moyes believes his Hammers side will score in the second leg on home soil.

"Seville have got a really good style – it's why they're second in La Liga, it's why they are ahead of so many good clubs, so you have to look at them and say you're up against a big opposition. But I thought we ran them really close tonight and I'm sure we'll run them close when we play them next week as well," Moyes told West Ham's official website.

"We'll get a goal next week, I've got no doubt about that, and what we need to do is make sure we don't concede any.

"They are a good team who keep the ball and they might make it difficult for us. We're going to have to probably chase that ball at different times, but ultimately, we will go into the game feeling that we are right in the tie.

"If you'd have given me 1-0, I might have said: 'Yeah, I'll take that' because we are right in it."

The Hammers will now prepare for Sunday's Premier League fixture at home against Aston Villa before locking horns with Sevilla at the London Stadium for the second leg next Thursday.
