West Ham fail to make the most of their first-half chances as Swansea hang on to take a 0-0 scoreline into the break at Upton Park.

West Ham United failed to take any of several first-half chances as they entered the break goalless with Swansea City at Upton Park this afternoon.

The returning Andy Carroll linked up with Kevin Nolan early on but the Hammers skipper saw his shot blocked behind for a corner.

The former Bolton Wanderers midfielder had another opportunity to put West Ham ahead, but was denied by the legs of Gerhard Tremmel when he connected well with a near-post header.

Tremmel was also on hand to foil Mark Noble and Ricardo Vaz Te in a first half in which the Swans had 57% possession.

However, they struggled to make the most of their time on the ball and only once forced a save out of Hammers stopper Jussi Jaaskelainen.

Jonathan de Guzman tested the Finn with a bending free kick, and also struck a long-range effort over the crossbar but the visitors were strangely sluggish going forward.
