West Ham United have avoided an upset in their League Cup second-round match, beating Crewe Alexandra 2-0.
The Hammers took the lead 10 minutes before half-time, when Nicky Maynard did enough to beat the Crewe keeper.
The hosts held out until half-time with that lead intact, and doubled it 10 minutes after the start of the second period, this time Modibo Maiga getting the goal.
West Ham will find out who they face in the third round on Thursday, two days before returning to Premier League action against Fulham.
