Sam Allardyce surprised by Diafra Sakho form

West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce admits that he is surprised by the instant impact that Diafra Sakho has had on the team.

West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce has admitted that he has been surprised by how quickly Diafra Sakho has adapted to the Premier League.

The Senegalese striker has scored five goals in six games for the Hammers since he joined the club from Metz over the summer.

Despite acknowledging the 24-year-old's talent, Allardyce claims that Sakho's instant impact on the team has come as a shock.

"We knew he was a good player. He scored 20 goals last year but we didn't know how well he would adjust to the Premier League," he told the club's official website. "His work rate, desire and his runs are so good. He has a great knack of being in the right place at the right time."

Sakho's last goal for West Ham came on Saturday during their 2-0 win at home to Queens Park Rangers in the league.
