Andy Caroll: "I have had a great season"

Andy Carroll says that he has has a "great season" on loan at West Ham United as the club looks to sign him permanently.

Andy Carroll believes that he has enjoyed a "great season" on loan at West Ham United amid reports that the club have agreed a fee with Liverpool for his permanent capture.

The 24-year-old, who was recently forced to withdraw from the England squad with injury, joined the Hammers on a season-long loan in August after a disappointing spell at the Reds.

Carroll moved to the Merseysiders for £35m from Newcastle United in January 2011 but failed to make an impact at Anfield, but feels that life is rather different now at Upton Park.

"I have enjoyed every minute of being here," Carroll told West Ham's official website. "I have just tried to play my best in every match, score goals and keep myself fit once I got back from the injuries I had and then push on from there.

"I have worked hard to get myself back in the England squad, trying to play my best for West Ham, so I am really pleased about that. I just have to make sure I keep playing well to stay in there.

"I have had a great season here, really enjoyed being part of a great set of lads in the team, with the staff around us and the fans. Everyone has been so welcoming to me. This is a great club."

West Ham and Liverpool have reportedly settled on an initial fee of £12m.
