Carlton Cole confirms West Ham United exit

Carlton Cole appears to be leaving West Ham United as he takes to Twitter to thank the club's fans for their support.

West Ham United striker Carlton Cole has taken to Twitter to indicate that he will leave the club this summer.

The 29-year-old has spent the last seven years at Upton Park, but his revelation on the social networking site has suggested that his time as a West Ham player will come to an end next month.

"Life is filled with ups & downs today is a down but I'll be back! Carlton Cole/CFC as i have been called has left the building," he wrote.

"I want to thank the West Ham fans for their support especially the 1's who made the away games feel like a home 1.

"I came to East London not knowing what to expect but i'm glad i did the last 7 years I've met a lot of good honest decent people #THANKYOU."

Cole has made seven appearances for England at senior international level.
