Carroll was loaned to West Ham United in August upon Rodgers's arrival at the club, and the Reds boss has said that the England international, who signed for them for £35m from Newcastle United in January 2011, will not be sold for a knock-down price.
"He won't be leaving on the cheap," the Liverpool Echo quotes Rodgers as saying.
"With every club it's about the style [of football] and how they fit into that. The club can't have that money sitting on the bench, in terms of what Andy will cost in wages. It's not his fault but he came here for an astronomical fee.
"It's absoluteness the case, the same as last season that if the player does leave, then it won't be for nothing."
The Reds host the Hammers tomorrow afternoon with the forward ineligible due to the agreements of his loan deal.
