West Ham United step up Eberechi Eze pursuit?

West Ham United are reportedly stepping up their pursuit for Queens Park Rangers attacker Eberechi Eze.

West Ham United are reportedly set to make a move for Queens Park Rangers attacker Eberechi Eze.

Manager David Moyes is looking to make several changes to his squad ahead of the new Premier League season after leading West Ham to safety in 2019-20.

QPR value the 22-year-old at around £20m, however the Hammers are unlikely to spend heavily this summer unless they are able to let current first-team players leave the London Stadium.

The Guardian reports that Moyes is unconvinced by a number of his attacking options and hopes that the sales of Felipe Anderson, Manuel Lanzini and Albian Ajeti will increase his budget to use on new recruits in the coming weeks.

The Hammers boss is a big admirer of Eze, however he is not alone as Premier League quartet Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, Newcastle United and West Bromwich Albion are also interested in the Championship player.

The potential signing of Eze would fit the profile of the London club's new recruitment strategy, with the Irons aiming to sign young, hungry players from the lower divisions, with the acquisition of Jarrod Bowen from Hull City in January the first under their new transfer policy.

Eze made his QPR debut in 2017 and has now cemented his place in the first team as one of Mark Warburton's star players.

The forward played in all 46 Championship matches this season, where he scored 14 goals and provided eight assists helping the Hoops finish in 13th place.
